Pre-tour:
11 February
Hauraki Gulf pelagic for
New Zeland storm-petrel
We take a pelagic trip into the Hauraki Gulf towards Little Barrier
and Great Barrier Islands, north-east of Auckland. While there are some
exciting seabirds to be seen in this area, the recently rediscovered
New Zealand storm petrel
would, without question, be the highlight. Cook's and
Pycroft's petrels are also possible on this trip as well as black
petrel, Buller's and flesh-footed shearwaters.
Information on pre-tour
pelagic: participants on the 11 February pre-tour pelagic will be transported
to Warkworth, which is 45minutes north of Auckland, on the afternoon
of 10 February. A meeting point in Auckland or Auckand Airport will
be decided when we have an idea of participants' arrival times. Participants
will also be returned to Auckland after the pelagic trip. People can
not be collected in Auckland after 5pm on 10 February.
Cost: Pelagic trip; $400 AUD includes pelagic trip, accommodation on
10 February, dinner on 10 February, breakfast and lunch on 11 February,
transport to Warkworth (10 Feb) and back to Auckland (11 Feb).
